Again, I feel that you are so particular to certain things, that is minor.
For the advertisement, many the chinese himself is not good in speaking kantonise. Do we really need to be to good in pronouncing the words??

English doesnt specify which tone you need to pronouce, but WhySoParticular, if you do speak Cantonese, you should know there is a tone or pitch to differentiate from word to word.
Example: Kam Yat Lei Ah Ma Yau Mou Chow Hai? (Read in Cantonese)
If you didnt know, you will think im swearing. But the sentence was asking, “Your mother got fried crab today? But because i didnt specify the tone, misunderstanding could happen my friend…
Do we really need to be good in pronouncing the words? In english maybe not so, in other language which require pitch and tone to specify the word, YES!
Dont always wear a racing horse hat to look at things, it will only limited your sight. Look at the bigger picture.

In daily ife, when people speak, we will know whether he is good in kantonis or mandarin. Some people, who speak kantonis, but in heavy slang of their language, we know that this guy can’t speak well in kantonis. Hence, we may expect the guy may speak wrongly.
By the way, if the one is not comfortable in speaking certain language, they wouldn’t speak it to avoid any misunderstanding, coz to those who listen is a bit hard and to those who speak it is a challences.
Some simple worlds, like “tapau”, although other people cannot pronounce as correctly as you , but in daily life, we know what that person try to say and we do understand it. It is a unique words that show the culture in malaysia.
Many of our kantonis words have been mixed with malay. Even we talk with Hong Kong people, sometime they can’t understand some words in the sentences we speak.
Back to the topic. the guy in commercial say, “long ma jing shen”, does we understand what he say. The answer is yes. We understand. Just that the pronounce is a bit off set. Should we really need to correct the pitch or tone? It depend on individual.
In addtion, this may be an ideal from the director of the advertisement, that let them to say it in this way, like the word “ta pau” that commonly used in malaysia. So, it try to show the unique culture in our country.
Our languege, either english, malay or chinese, non of us can pronounce it correctly. We have our own slang in saying the words. However, sometime we feel comfortable in listening those people who speak chinese/english in their own slang. Do you feel comfortable if your friend speak chinese with you in Beijing slang or the friend speak cantonise with you in Hong Kong slang?

What Jiun Jie try to say is juz when we teach ppl, we should teach the ppl the correct pronounciation, is nt we need to critize ppl who cnt speak in correct way if he/she is nt a chinese or not use to speck Cantonese. We also knw that for other race ppl to learn chinese or cantonese is a bit hard like what is the situation when we learn English or Malay. But we do keep on correct our pronounciation when some ppl find out n tell us, rite? This is the correct way to learn language. But he stil cnt pronounce it correctly,bt juz a little bit, is ok, bt too off, dun u think is not good, it seem like an insult to that language. In my church, the father is an Indian, he cnt speck Mandarin, on CNY that day, he use Mandarin to wish us, wahhh, he really can pronounce it in a correct way, it is juz becoz another father who taught him, taught him in a correct way, and he learn it seriously, not chin cai onli…so all of us give him a big hand.

For the slang problem, ermmm, the way we speak chinese here cnt be understand by ppl frm china n taiwan is juz becoz our pronounciation, nt the slang problem…if u really go to check dictionary, we pronounce a lot of wrong word. since our pronounciation alr wrong, then we stil use a wrong pronounciation to teach ppl, hw they gonna to learn n know our language. For China ppl, if u really pay attention on what they said, actually nt hard for us to knw what they trying to said…n if u knw “han yu pin yin”, u should knw the slang problem is juz becoz they like to “qiao shi” even the word no need to “qiao shi”, thats all. if u stil cn understand what they say, u juz cn directly ask them to speak slowly

Sharon: Those ppl will only understand what r u trying to say if they do look at the bigger picture and also understand whats happening around, no point for me to explain all over again but in the end they get offended and create some uncomfortable situation. It will only work if u do understand the language. Plus, i didnt spread the wrong teaching right? Please let me know if i do, ill correct myself…

Curious: There is no way to pronouce it correctly, because it is a mandarin word. But usually my friend woule pronouce it as “jee”, some pronouce “jee-ay”.
